Lucini Residence
Fresno, CaliforniaWhile the client enjoyed the practical
use of materials and massive feeling of the so-called "Mediterranean" style of
architecture, they also felt it had been
terribly overused in Fresno. S.I.M
suggested using a California "Monterrey"
style as a means of differentiating from
the others, while maintaining the practicalities
of materials used. With a large, young and rapidly growing family, space was at
a premium; not only interior, but outdoor space. The stacked two-story plan and the unique three-car garage
arrangement maximized the 12,000 S.F lot.
The interior is a combination of beautiful
formal shapes such as the rotunda used
at the entry and the study upstairs to the
warm cozy areas of the kitchen and adjoining den.
