HANFORD HEADSTART CENTER
Clovis, California

The design challenge for the Hanford Head Start Community Center project was to create a facility with high visual impact that would serve the needs of the head start program and accommodate various community functions. Working with a modest construction budget, S.I.M. designed a simple structure, but utilized color, texture, and scale to create an environment that is not only inviting to the children, but pleasing to the community.

The 3,300 s.f. complex includes 2 classroom wings wrapped around a central courtyard and a small commercial kitchen. Great consideration was given to maximize the views while maintaining an energy efficient design.
